Welcome to the Springfield Photographic Society!
We are a group of photography fans that range from amateur to professional. We love to go out on photo field trips and have a good time and share what we know in order to help each other improve our craft. Read about how we started under ABOUT SPS. Please consider joining our club and attending our meetings. We'd love to meet you!

Over the next few months we will have a new Word Press interactive and mobile friendly website! The plan is in place and once it's up and running you will all receive an email on how to log onto it and re-register. The site will be available for 3 audiences, the public, members only and administrative. Members will have the ability to upload their digital exhibition photos themselves. The new site will have an easy to sign up for field trips page and an easier to view gallery. The site will also have a blog with several areas including selling photo equipment, workshops, technical questions answered, photos contests, etc.
43 towns is a photographic exhibit that features one picture from each of the 43 towns in Hampden and Hampshire Counties. The images have been provided by 32 members of the Springfield Photographic Society. Our primary goal was to capture the uniqueness of our communities, with pictures that illustrate their history, culture, public spaces and natural beauty. With only one picture per town, each photographer had to choose one perspective that they felt was important to understanding their town. One of the strengths of this exhibit lies in the large number of contributing photographers. This has provided a wider range of perspective than what could have been achieved with one or two contributors. In some of our pictures, you will find an icon of that town. In other cases, there are surprises. Those photographers with a passion for nature found the natural beauty in their assignment. Other photographers found historical structures or local businesses. The photos are presently being shown at the MassMutual Civic Center through the 2nd week in December. An opening reception for members and their families and friends will take place on Friday, November 10th. More details to follow. Our participants have had fun assembling this exhibit, in some cases going to towns they knew little about and talking to the locals about good photo opportunities. We hope that you have fun as well, as you explore 43 Towns.
